Secret Santa '08
We're doing secret santa at my workplace this year (first time ever) and it turns out that I'm santa to the biggest dick in our office. This is a guy that nobody, not even his mother could love. He whines and complains about everything on a constant basis, then goes out of his way to get people in trouble and cause trouble himself. To sum things up, he's an ass and nobody likes him, especially me. So...what do I get the guy...a rock? some coal? my dick in a box? |

'2008' sorta looks like Z00B, which kinda looks like N00B, or n00b if you prefer. Is it the year of the n00b? Coincidence?? Maaaaaaaybe? It's 2008 and Craig Ferguson is still my #1 hero. Whenever I have thoughts like the one above, I often picture him saying it. Yes, this is how I amuse myself. This year is already starting out with a huge bang. Magfest is tomorrow! Holy freaking crap. The wife and I are going to hang out with the entire internet all at once. It's too much to handle. Shannon and I keep thinking that we're gonna be bombarded by people we know left and right. Seems overwhelming, but we really don't know what to expect once we actually get to the hotel where it's at. It's exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. I have to figure out later on what DS games to bring. I gotta do more packing too. I even managed to turn in my DoD entry at the very last minute. I was such a nervous wreck towards the final minutes of mixing, that I ended up staying up pretty late last night from the overabundance of adrenalin I experienced from frantically working on it for hours on end. I had actually given up on my entry a couple of weeks ago because I wasn't liking how it was sounding, but then Shannon went shopping yesterday and I had the house to myself. That's when it just hit me to give it one last try. I wanted so badly to finish it and get it out there, especially since the listening party for DoD is at magfest. Anyways, I'm glad to be done with that. The mix didn't turn out spectacular by any means, but hopefully good enough for listening. I'll work on it more when I get back home. I'm just happy enough to have pushed myself to work on it again. Current Mood:  crazy |

Super Mario Galaxy
It is awesome. I think about it a lot. A LOT. ya rly. It's the first game in years that causes me to lose track of time. I thought I could say the same about Metroid Prime 3, but with that I was pacing myself most of the time. Not with SMG though. I get lost in all the yummy, swirly landscapes, planetoids and star clusters. This game is the very definition of game candy. From the colors to the music to the story of the girl lost in outer space. Everything is so delicious. About the side story, btw. It's actually kinda cute and well told, like any classic fairytale really. It's just a little addition that I think adds to the overall charm of the game. I hope I'm not the only one that is able to appreciate it. Anyways, I'm about 50 stars in already. I didn't think I'd get this far so fast, but the game has been pretty easy up to this point. It got pretty freaking hard last night though in a couple of places. I wish I could sit here and spoil it all, but I won't. I'll just say that the harder 'levels' rival anything found in past Mario games. |

bored; random thoughts
Just making this post out of boredom... I think I'll be spending this weekend mostly working on a new vgmusic arrangement for DoD's Free month (aka Magfest month). I hope it works out like I want it to. I'm actually pretty excited about it at this point. I think at least one aspect of it will surprise some people. The arrangement part of it isn't completed yet though, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that I can get it sorted out in time. Meantime, I'm calmly waiting to find my latest, completed remix show up in the judges forum over at OCR. I hope people enjoy it. It's not a showcase piece or anything, but just a little something I did for fun, mainly because it's in a style I've never really explored before - Doo-Wop! Also, you know, just because Mario Galaxy is just a few days away now from official release does NOT make waiting any easier. I'm dying to play this game for real now. Fuck. I have to play this game in order to survive. I'm so obsessed. :( What else... I'm really happy that Shannon and I have a newer-ish workstation now for creating music with. It's like a dream come true. I've always wanted a decent setup and I finally have it. The organizational freak inside me is rejoicing. I'll have to take pictures soon and post them up somewheres. I'm quite proud of how it all came together. It's simple, functional, takes up less space and even appears a lot less ghetto. In fact, I'd even say it looks quite nice. Hooray. Oh yeah, I'm buying an acoustic guitar soon. About time. |

I finally discovered that this thing...  ...is referred to as a papasan (aka the world's most comfortable chair). I couldn't really look it up anywhere before. Most of my searches online turned up fruitless and soon I had become lost with despair. That is until an ad from Shopko arrived in the mail today. I'm about to haul my ass over there this Friday, when they go on sale, to see if I can grab my very own papasan. I guarantee you that I will be the happiest man in the world if I score one of these soon. |
